Federal Skilled Workers
As of January 1, 2015, a new system called Express Entry is the new process to apply under the program of Federal Skilled workers. To meet the minimum requirements, skilled worker must meet the following criteria.
Applicant must the minimum requirements as set on the six selection factors below. This is based on skilled worker grid points as listed below:
As of January 1, 2015, a new system called Express Entry is the new process to apply under the program of Federal Skilled workers. To meet the minimum requirements, skilled worker must meet the following criteria.
- Skilled work experience must be:
- At least one year (1,560 hours total/30 hours per week), continuous full time or an equal amount in part time
- Paid work (volunteer works unpaid internships do not count)
- In the same NOC skill type (O, A or B)
- In the past 10 years
- All skill type O, or skill level A, or B at 2011 National Occupation Classification) (NOC)
If you cannot show that your work experience meets the description in the NOC, you are not eligible under this program. - Language Ability
You must meet the minimum language benchmark of CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French for your first official language in all four-language abilities. To get points for your second official language, you must meet minimum of CLB level 5 in all four-language abilities. - Education
- You must have secondary or post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree or
- An Education Credential Assessment (ECA) Report from an authorized agency by CIC to reflect the equivalent Canadian education standards.
