Federal Skilled Trade Workers
As of January 1, 2015, a new system called Express Entry is the new process to apply under the program of Federal Skilled Trade workers.

As of January 1, 2015, a new system called Express Entry is the new process to apply under the program of Federal Skilled Trade workers.
To meet the minimum requirements, skilled trade worker must meet the following criteria.
- Plan to live outside the province of Quebec
- Meet the required English or French on each of the language ability (speaking, reading, writing and listening)
- Have at least 2 year of full time work experience (or an equal amount of part time experience) in a skilled trade within the five years before submitting an application
- Must meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the National Occupation Classification (NOC) except for needing certificate of qualification and
- Must have offer of full time employment for a period of at least one year OR a certificate of qualification in that skilled Trade issued by province or territorial authority
- There is no education requirement for the Federal Skilled Trades Program but if wanting to earn extra points on education under Express Entry, applicant must need:
Canadian post secondary certificate, diploma or degree
OR - An Education Credential Assessment (ECA) report from an approved Agency by CIC to reflect the Canadian education equivalency.
Applicant must meet :
- The minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 for Speaking and Listening and (CLB) 4 for Reading and Writing and
- Must take the test in designated Language test approved by CIC
