Federal Skilled Worker New list of Eligibile Occupations Released
Ottawa, April 18, 2013, Canadian Immigration Minister Jason Kenney has released the details about the Federal Skilled Program (FSWP) that will reopen on May 4, 2013.
New Eligibility Criteria
Federal Skilled workers applications are selected based on their ability to become economically established in Canada. In order to become eligible for processing of permanent resident application, the applicant must meet the following criterion.
- Have at least one year of continuous work experience in one of the 24 eligible occupations and meet the minimum 67 points based on Citizenship and Immmigration selection factor or
- Have a qualifying offer of arranged employment with a Labour Market Opinion and permanent full time job offer from Canadian employer or
- Have completed PhD in Canada or have completed two years of study in Canada towards a PhD
- A new eligible occupations list, with a total of 24 occupations;
- An overall cap of 5,000 new applications for all eligible occupations, including a sub-cap of 300 new applications for each eligible occupation;
- Four organizations have been designated to conduct educational credential assessments (mandatory for applicants submitting foreign educational credentials); and
- Applicants must show proof that they meet the minimum threshold of Canadian Language Benchmark 7 in all four language skill areas: speaking, reading, writing and oral comprehension.

Due to limited time and number of applications to be accepted for the new FSW program, we encourage applicants to send in their applications as soon as possible. If you find that your occupation is not included on this list of eligible occupation for FSW, we will advise you of other options available for you to immigrate, work and study in Canada.
